Hello Hello!
I have an amazing breakfast recipe to share with you today! I had an early morning training session this morning and all I wanted when I got home was chocolate. I read Katie’s blog on the elliptical and knew I would make a variation of chocolate oats.
Almond Joy Protein Oats:
- 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
- 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 tablespoon chocolate chips
- sprinkle shredded coconut
- sprinkle slivered almonds
Combine oats, water, chia seeds, and ground flax in a sauce pan on medium heat. Once boiling cover, remove from heat and leave to set 30-40 minutes. Return to oats and begin to heat back to medium add in the almond milk and protein powder and stir until well combined. Add 1/2 the chocolate chips to get them all melty then remove from pan to serving dish. Top with remaining chocolate chips, almonds and coconut
Okay, sorry I got a little ahead of myself I was going to talk about my workout. I met with my trainer early this morning and we worked on full body weights. The hardest exercises for me were the side step-ups. My right leg is so much weaker than my left. My favorite exercises were the goblet squats and dead lifts.
In my public relations class last night we were talking about the Dove campaign and how they are promoting self esteem among young woman.
We also watched this video
I found both the video’s to be really interesting. I am NOT promoting Dove products or saying this is an amazing advertising campaign. This image issue reminded me of some of what I have been seeing on blogs and I thought this was a good reminder that no one is ‘perfect’ and you should not feel pressured by what you see others doing.
I loved my strength training at the gym this morning, and then eating chocolate with breakfast afterwards
. I love to eat ice cream, cookies and pie and sometimes there’s nothing better than a big glass of wine in a hot bubble bath. I know these might not be the healthiest habits, some may not approve of drinking and some may think carbs are horrible. I have no health issues that keep me from eating specific food groups and think alcohol in moderation is a wonderful stress reduction.
What ‘imperfect’ qualities do you have? How do you avoid feeling pressure to be someone your not?

yummy those almond joy protein oat look amazing, i think i might try that for my next breakfast….or snack
I hope you like it!
Almond Joys are one of my favorite candy bars! I don’t have chocolate protein powder – only plain – but I am going to try this tomorrow morning
Holy goodness! It use to really bother me that I would never be one of the super skinny girls. I have curves and although it took me a long time to accept the fact, I eventually learned to love them.
plain as in vanilla? I am glad you have learned to love your curves, i think thats something a lot of people struggle with
This looks delicious!
Oh it is! Chocolate and coconut are a great combination!
Oh my gosh – those oats! I’ve made a similar recipe [and pancakes] in the past – I loveee coconut + chocolate
And I think that the Dove campaign is pretty awesome – that there is not one definition of beauty – something that I’ve struggled with accepting in the past…
Isn’t chocolate and coconut (and peanut butter, added after the picture) just the best combination!
I have to say I do admire their campaigns, I got to meet one of the original dove woman and her story made me even more inspired by it
That’s awesome, I love hearing inspirational stories
These oats look so amazing!
I think the easiest way for me to accept my imperfections is to think about my family and friends and how much I love them for exactly who they are, regardless of the fact that they aren’t perfect. I feel like we all deserved to be loved, and that our imperfections are often times what make us unique!
Well said, couldn’t agree more with the friends and family.
Although not the answer to your question, looking at these campaigns brings me back! I was a PR major and I loved it! I miss it!
I am loving my PR classes!
