WIAW # 10

Happy Wednesday!

I hope your week is going well.  It was such a beautiful day here today, perfectly sunny all day long!  It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for another What I Ate Wednesday!  Thanks to Jenn over at Peas and Crayons for hosting this fun link up!

WIAW GOES GREEN

 

Today I’ll be talking about what I ate Tuesday!  Tuesday started as usual with a mug of fresh market coffee with almond milk and some oatmeal. I forgot to take a picture but it looked a lot like this except it was eaten at work out of a tupperware container.

IMG_0498At work I snacked on a banana early afternoon and then had lunch at home before heading to class.  I had a GF english muffin with cheese and some cauliflower, broccoli and carrots.  After taking the picture I toasted the english muffin and then put in the microwave for 8 seconds to melt the cheese.  *sorry all of the pictures today are horrible, they were taken with my phone and in bad lighting.

IMG_1113I had planned on running 5 miles after class, but I just wasn’t feeling it.  I was really tired from staying up late working on school stuff the last few nights and had a lot to do last night too.  I knew that getting to sleep at a reasonable hour yesterday was more important than getting in a run.

Getting home earlier than normal gave me some extra time to make dinner while I started studying.  I roasted some broccoli and cauliflower and salmon.  I topped the salmon with spicy dijon mustard and walnuts, it sounds strange but I love mustard on salmon.

IMG_1120Dessert included a few cups of green tea and a grapefruit.

IMG_1119I was up later than I would like preparing for a meeting I have with one of my professors today on one of my big papers.

Do you ever have a hard time skipping a workout in favor of accomplishing other stuff that needs to be taken care of?

  1. I never like skipping workouts but sometimes if its because I’m tired or getting sick then I know if its for the right reasons then it is so much better for me.

    Never heard of mustard and Salmon, might have to give the combo a try!

    And, yeah, I totally know what you mean. I skip about 90% of my workouts around midterms/finals. It makes me feel like such a slug, but I know that studying and sleeping are more important :-/

  3. I do have trouble skipping workouts, especially because I consider it such good stress relief! I try to be good about listening to my body, but often I interpret the signals as, “Please work me out.” :)

    I am now craving English muffins. I swear I have had them on my shopping list for weeks and keep putting off buying them since I have two loaves of bread in my freezer I ‘should’ eat first. But man, something about those nooks and crannies…

    I used to hate mustard. I now have perhaps five open mustards in my fridge at the moment. Good on everything…

  4. I think it was smart to skip the run. Sometimes it’s healthier to rest when your body is telling you it needs it. I have never thought to put mustard on salmon. I’d be willing to give it a try though, sounds interesting.

  5. Ahhh I eat out of tupperware containers all the time!

    Skipping workouts is always tough… I especially have a hard time with it if it is a class I really enjoy. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do though… Hope the meeting with your professor goes well!

  6. I hate skipping workouts! I’m actually fighting off a cold right now and am struggling with not working out. I rested yesterday and am debating hopping on my elliptical for some cardio as we speak! I know rest is best but it’s just so hard not to exercise when I’m so used to it.
    I’ve been craving salmon lately but fresh caught is so expensive right now around here. I keep watching for it to go on sale, hopefully soon!

  7. I swear my whole life is just balancing whether I have time to work out or time to accomplish other stuff – like laundry or doing the dishes. Though I must say, working out usually wins, that’s mostly because I hate doing laundry! But it comes back and bites me every weekend. *sigh*
