WIAW- feeling like a bad doodle mom

I am such a bad doodle mom!  Yesterday was another crazy day at work, with one of our guys in Louisville for training and another out sick we were a bit understaffed today.  Understaffed = no lunch break.  No lunch break = Bentley doesn’t get a mid day potty break :(.  I felt SO bad when I got home at 10 last night having left at 6:20 in the morning. That is way too long for the poor little guy and I am now on the search for a dog walker in the Lexington area who I could call on days like yesterday.

Since today is Wednesday and I remembered to take pictures of my eats yesterday I though I would link up with Jenn for WIAW!

I had a ton of snacks with me at work so eating wasn’t a problem yesterday, just getting home to let my dog out.  For breakfast I made my favorite smoothie thus far.  I put frozen kale, strawberries, banana, peaches, blueberries, and cherries into the blender with some almond milk and vanilla protein powder.  SO good!!!  I think it was the cherries that made it extra special.

IMG_5630I need to work on making smoothies with lots of different fruits without making enough for 3 large smoothies.  I filled a big glass to drink in the car and put two more into the freezer with hopes of enjoying one for dinner.  (when I got home from class the ones in the freezer were frozen solid.  I need tips on how to store smoothie leftovers!)  It probably wasn’t the best idea to drink a smoothie while freezing into the car on the way to work but at least I had some hot coffee to follow.

IMG_5633I snacked on some trader joes trail mix throughout the morning.  I think it was an old Christmas mix that my mom had sent back to Lexington with me.  Old or not it’s a great mix of sweet, salty, chewy and crunchy.

IMG_5635I had some baby carrots and cherry tomatoes early in the afternoon.  I had picked up both on Sunday and they make the perfect work snack.

IMG_5636Before leaving work for class I had the salad I had packed.  I had spinach, egg whites and sweet potato.  I’m sure your sick of seing this combination but it’s my current favorite lunch. With protein, veggies, and carbs its a great mix that keeps me full for quite a long time.

IMG_5637 IMG_5638Our class had a meeting and didn’t get out until later than usual.  This is a picture of Bentley from this weekend where he was mad at me for using the dog eating machine (vacuum).  I think he was even more mad at me for leaving him alone all day yesterday :( I tried to make it up to him by adding some carrots, sweet potato and apple slices to his dinner.

IMG_5603For my dinner I sauteed spinach and mushrooms in coconut aminos and made 2 egg whites and 1 egg with turmeric, cheddar cheese, garlic powder and pepper.  I think I got in my share of green leafy vegetables for the week!

IMG_5641I spent the rest of the evening sipping hot tea, catching up on some blogs I haven’t had a chance to read being so busy the past few weeks and cuddling with Bentley.

Any tips for how to find a reliable dog walker to come to your home?  There is one doggy daycare in Lexington, but I have to be at work before they open and don’t get off until they are closed.

Tips for how to save leftover smoothies?  I know I need to work on the amount of fruit I put into the blender but want to make sure i’m not wasting any leftovers if there are any.

  1. That smoothie sounds so good! I usually just leave the leftovers in the refrigerator and they’re fine that way. Your poor pup! Hey, it happens. I want a dog too (and am probably going to get one later this year….fingers crossed) but at the same time I’m not sure how it’ll work out with my schedule. We shall see!

    1. I think i’m lucky that Bentley was house trained when I was in school and home almost all day every day. IT makes it easier now when I have these really hectic days.

  2. I’ll take care of Bentley midday! If only we lived closer! :) My recommendation for smoothies would be to put it in the fridge and then reblend with a couple ice cubes or a half of a banana before you want the next serving. I can never make one serving either!

    1. I think the extra love makes us feel better than it does them…. but it sure does make you feel bad when they are home alone all day.

  3. I’ve never tried freezing smoothies before so can’t help with any good tips for you.

I’m sure Bentley forgave you and you made it up to him well anyway but good you are looking for a dog walker for him.

All your other eats look amazing.

    1. Sounds like a good and scary idea! I feel like there are some big creepers on craigslist yet some really nice people too probably

  4. Poor Bentley! That must be difficult finding time to let him out. I would check online for a dog walker. There are several sites dedicated to matching dog walkers with owners.
